Gjilberta is a New York City-based concert cellist and native of Albania with a very successful international career. Her solo career started at the age of 13, performing in the Vatican for Pope John Paul II. Her career has taken her to Mexico, China, South Korea, throughout Europe and even to Afghanistan. Nominated in 2016 as one of the 100 most notable Albanian-Americans by the President of Albania, she has been hailed for her beautiful tone and mesmerizingly passionate performances across the globe. She has been featured in the New York Times, Elegance Magazine, Westchester Magazine, Vogue Italy, TimeOut NY, Couture Fashion Magazine as well as many TV stations domestically and internationally. Gjilberta pioneered the concept of pairing her dynamic cello solo performances with couture fashion shows in NYC starting 2005. She has performed for Fashion Week in NYC and throughout the USA. Gjilberta has recorded and performed for Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Sony, Avatar Studios, Alicia Keys, Beyoncé, Ricky Martin, Coldplay, THALIA, IL DIVO and Jay-Z among other notables. Versatile in genres of music beyond classical, she enjoys performing tango, jazz, bossa nova and electronic dance music on both acoustic and electric cellos. Gjilberta has recently furthered her artistic goals to include four leading roles in movies and film series. She is also currently composing the score for two feature films. Gjilberta had a major role in the short movie “The Kind Ones” which premiered at Cannes Film Festival and won two choice awards at NYC film festivals. She was also the executive producer for the award-winning documentary, “The Last Doctor”. Gjilberta enjoys performing worldwide, teaching in NYC and helping children’s charities. She has raised funds for children’s music academies by benefit performances in Mexico, Afghanistan and most recently Barbados.
