Merita Alimhillaj was born in Shkoder (Albania). She graduated the cello at the Academy of Arts of Tirana (Albania), later attaining a diploma in Italian at the Musical Institute of the State Conservatory in Mesapica Ceglie (BR), under the guidance of prof. Rosa Andriulli.
She has carried out intense concert activity in her hometown and in Italy, playing with various orchestras and chamber ensembles (Orchestra "Venus", the Magna Grecia Orchestra, Orchestra "Terra d'Otranto", Orchestra "Girolamo Frescobaldi" and participating in various exhibitions including the 2004 Oscar TV, the premium International Organ Festival and the Baroque of Lecce. She has also collaborated with associazione musicale "Girolamo Frescobaldi" in Brindisi, and the school "Giacomo Puccini" in Galatina (LE).
She is currently Professor of Cello in Scuola Media Statale Virgilio-Salvemini in Brindisi and cellist in the "Orchestra del Settecento", Baroque music ensemble conducted by Maestro Grazia Semeraro.
