Pjetër Guralumi was born in Tirana on May 24, 1966 in a family with an important music tradition, where he got the first lessons of cello from his father, Matei Guralumi. Pjetër Guralumi has continued the studies at the High Institute of Arts (today Academy of Arts) in Tirana at the Prof. Gjergj Antoniu's cello class graduating with the highest results, in the period from 1986-1990.
Starting from 1997, he went for specializations at the famous cello classes in Europe, such as in Valentin Erben's class, Vienna's University of Music as a scholarship beneficiary of Tempus Programme, at the Enrico Dindo Cello class in Accademia "Alessandro Rolla", Pavia Italy (1999), at Scuola di Alto Perfezionamento Musicale "Fondazione Romano Romanini" Brescia 2000-2001, Mario Brunello class (2000-2001) and again at Enrico Dindo's Cello class at Accademia Musicale Pescarese in 2005.
Pjetër Guralumi takes part as soloist and as a member of chamber music ensembles, giving a special importance not only to the traditional repertoire, but meantime to the contemporary Albanian and European one. He is the first performer of more than 40 compositions of Albanian authors and more than 20 foreign composers in the Albanian stages.
He is the First Prize Winner of "Nikolla Zoraqi" competition – December 1994, in the category of Soloists and has made the performing of many Albanian and international composers in various competitions organized in Albania, giving them the victory of important prizes.
Pjetër Guralumi's repertoire includes composers from baroque to the contemporary ones. He has successfully performed in important concert stages of International Festivals of the musical life in Albania, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, France, USA, Greece, Macedonia, Croatia and Kosovo) Since 2004 takes regularly part in the International Concert Series called "Allegretto Albania" and "KLASIK", collaborating with well-known artists like A.Reiner, A.Ferraro, M.Cattarossi, E.Favata, A.Tinelli, G.Mazzocante, S.Mullaj, M.Palumbo, D.Sulejmani etc.
Pjetër Guralumi has made CD recording with LABOR RECORDS – USA and DAD RECORDS – Italy.
He plays with a Ch.Olivier & P.Bisch Cello of 1928 restored by J.Fasnacht in 2002.
Since December 1990 he is employed at the Academy of Arts in Tirana and has the Associated Professor title.
