Biography

Joel Blido was born 1998 in Marburg an der Lahn, Germany into a family of musicians. He received his first cello lessons when he was 4 years old and debutet as a soloist with the Chamber Orchestra Bad Mergentheim at the age of 10.
Since 2008 he won a lot of prizes at the German competition for young musicians „Jugend Musiziert“, among them a first national prize and the special prize of the Sparkassenstiftung Baden-Württemberg.
In September 2011 he won the special prize of the German music publishers at the WESPE-Competition in Freiburg. In January 2015 he wrote a piece for Cello Solo which was awarded with the third prize at the Friedensburg Composition Competition Switzerland. The same year he also won a first prize at the international „Giovanni Musicisti“-Competition in Treviso, Italy.
At the age of 10, he was accepted into the Pre-College of the University of Music Würzburg, in the class of Prof. Orfeo Mandozzi, with whom he began his Bachelor studies at the age of 15.
Since 2015 he studies with Prof. Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt at the University of Music Weimar.
In adittion he regularly works with Prof. David Geringas. 2014 he invited Joel to play together with him in the Philharmonie Berlin, since then they have played together several times as a duo.
Joel has actively participated in lots of international Masterclasses with famous teachers, including Jens Peter Maintz, Pieter Wispelwey, David Grigorian, Zvi Plesser and Hillel Zori.
He has played a lot of concerts across europe, i.a. at the Interlaken Classics Festival, the Usedom Music Festival, the Cello Akademie Rutesheim, the LAUS Academy Dubrovnik, the Durres Chamber Fest (Albania), the Different Trains Festival Tirana, the Accademia Chigiana Siena and the Feuchtwanger Piano Festival.
He also has a lot of experience as a soloist with orchestra and played with conductors such as Alessandro Cadario, Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt, Desar Sulejmani and orchestras such as the Opera Orchestra of Tirana, the Kammerphilharmonie Pforzheim and the Heinrich-Heine symphonic orchestra.
2016 he played the world premiere of the Concerto No. 3 for two cellos and orchestra by the world renowned contemporary composer Alexander Peci together with the albanian cello professor Astrid Selita, conductor Peter Vrabel and the Albanian national radio-television orchestra.
